FAIR TV Ad Urges Senators Toomey And Casey To Make Good On 1986 Immigration Enforcement Promises Before Making New Promises
Border Security And Enforcement Promises Remain Unfulfilled, Nearly Thirty Years Later
PITTSBURGH, June 4, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) launched a new TV ad yesterday in Pennsylvania highlighting the broken promises of the 1986 immigration law that granted amnesty to three million illegal aliens, but failed to control new illegal immigration. The ad urges Senators Patrick Toomey and Robert Casey to make good on the broken promises of 1986 immigration reform before making new promises.
"The list of broken promises from the 1986 amnesty reads like a broken record," commented Dan Stein, president of the Federation For American Immigration Reform.
"In 1986, the American people were promised that after legalizing 3 million illegal aliens, there would never be another amnesty. Promise broken," declared Stein.
"In 1986, the American people were promised border security. Today our borders remain unsecured. Another promise broken," Stein said.
"In 1986, Americans were promised that the magnet of jobs for illegal aliens would be cut off and that employers who hire illegal workers would be punished. Promise broken, again."
"In 1986, the American people were promised immigration reform that would make sure Americans would get first crack at jobs in this country. Yet another broken promise," Stein continued.
"If our leaders won't honor the promises made about immigration reform in the past, how can the American people take the promises our leaders make today seriously?" asked Stein. "It's up to Senator Toomey and Senator Casey to begin re-building America's trust in our leaders approach to immigration reform. And they can start by securing this country's borders and enforcing our immigration laws. After all, our leaders did make a promise."
