Eyemart Express Launches Stand Up To Cancer Fundraiser for Fourth Consecutive Year to Raise Up to $10,000
Optical retailer will donate $5 for every pair of SU2C glasses sold through September 7
DALLAS, July 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 1.7 million people are anticipated to be diagnosed with cancer this year alone, according to the American Cancer Society. Eyemart Express, a leading optical retailer and fastest provider of quality prescription eyewear in the industry, is partnering with Visual Eyes Eyewear on a fundraising campaign to raise up to $10,000 to support Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) and its collaborative cancer research.
For the fourth consecutive year, Eyemart Express is including customers in its philanthropic initiative — the company and its family of brands will donate $5 for every pair of SU2C frames purchased at all 201 stores nationwide through September 7, up to $10,000. The SU2C collection was created in collaboration with Visual Eyes Eyewear, offering men and women on-trend frame styles with colorful designs and subtle shapes.
“We are proud to continue our support for Stand Up To Cancer,” said Michael Bender, Eyemart Express CEO. “Our opticians and customers are passionate about this cause, and it is truly inspiring to see the amount we are able to raise for SU2C and their work to change cancer as we know it, a disease that impacts too many lives.”
Eyemart Express and Visual Eyes Eyewear have donated more than $260,000 since 2015 to support SU2C’s mission to accelerate cancer research so that all cancer patients can become long-term cancer survivors.
“Eyemart Express has been a valuable collaborator in our work to combat cancer,” said SU2C President and Chief Executive Officer Sung Poblete, Ph.D., R.N. “We are grateful for the continued generosity of Eyemart Express and its customers with this annual eyewear fundraiser.”

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) raises funds to accelerate the pace of research to get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now. SU2C, a division of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was established in 2008 by media and entertainment leaders who utilize the communities’ resources to engage the public in supporting a new, collaborative model of cancer research, and to increase awareness about cancer prevention as well as progress being made in the fight against the disease. As of June 2019, more than 1,600 scientists representing more than 180 institutions are involved in SU2C-funded research projects. Under the direction of our Scientific Advisory Committee led by Nobel Laureate Phillip A. Sharp, Ph.D., SU2C operates rigorous, competitive review processes to identify the best research proposals to recommend for funding, oversee grants administration, and provide expert review of research progress.
