Eye-Fi Founder Yuval Koren Named CEO
With Eye-Fi Cards on Shelves Around the World, Company Focuses on Next Phase of Growth
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Eye-Fi Inc. (www.eye.fi), makers of the world's first wireless memory card, today announced that co-founder Yuval Koren has been named CEO to further expand the company's partnership ecosystem and accelerate its digital imaging innovation.
Mr. Koren replaces Jef Holove who led the company since 2007 and helped grow distribution in retail channels worldwide. Eye-Fi's products can now be found in leading stores including Amazon.com, Apple, Best Buy, Office Depot, Radio Shack, Target and Wal-Mart. These retailers are complemented by international channels such as Fnac, Jessops, Yodobashi Camera and Bic Camera.
"The ecosystem of camera partners, online sites, apps and mobile partners built around the Eye-Fi card has irrevocably changed the course of the digital imaging space," said Yuval Koren, CEO and co-founder of Eye-Fi. "It's an exciting time for the company and the connected imaging space as a whole with a critical need for rapid innovation and a continuing focus on user experience. When we released a wireless memory card to the market in 2007, it was wildly futuristic, and it was about backing up photos on your computer without cables. Now it's part of a larger ecosystem that provides for instant uploads to your mobile device, back ups on your computer, or sharing on your favorite online networks. And that's just the beginning."
As co-founder and Eye-Fi's first CEO, Koren led the company's series A funding, assembled the innovative team that launched its very first product in 2007, and co-filed several of Eye-Fi's awarded and pending patents. He also created the Eye-Fi connected program, helping establish Eye-Fi as the industry's preferred wireless solution, endorsed by nearly every major camera manufacturer.
