NEW YORK, May 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- EY announced today that the organization will introduce a new services offering to leverage large volumes of both structured and unstructured data, May 18, at 4:30 pm ET, during the 2016 SAPPHIRE® NOW and ASUG Annual Conference being held May 17 – 19, in Orlando, FL. Scott Schlesinger, Principal, Ernst & Young LLP and EY SAP Data and Information Management Leader, and Brian McCartan, Principal, Ernst & Young LLP, will lead the session.
Built on the SAP HANA,® platform, SAP HANA Vora software, SAP® Predictive Analytics software and Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP®), the EY Predictive Reliability Analytics service offering supports a full review of relevant data to help clients manage costs and detect potential fraud, set reserves and improve product reliability to reduce unplanned down-time. The EY presentation will be held in Theatre 4 during the conference.
"Manufacturers can benefit from valuable insights that to enable faster and more targeted actions to realize improvements in quality and reduction in warranty cost through our enhanced Warranty Analytics service offering for SAP HANA integrating Apache Hadoop," said Michael Yadgar, a Principal with Ernst & Young LLP and the EY Americas leader for SAP-related services. "We are excited about being able to offer our clients a true end-to-end big data and analytics offering centered on the SAP HANA."
"With HDP as its core data collection platform, the next-generation Warranty Analytics helps automotive companies leverage large volumes of both structured and unstructured data and convert yesterday's impossible warranty challenges into today's actionable intelligence," said Chris Sullivan, vice president of global channels & alliances, Hortonworks. "We look forward to continuing Hortonworks and EY's strong relationship to help accelerate business transformations."
Yadgar noted that automobile manufacturers, for example, spend about 2% to 3% of their annual revenues paying warranty claims. "Aside from the direct financial impact (reimbursement), these claims often carry substantial indirect costs, such as degradation of brand image and customer loyalty, and even legal liability. Unfortunately, warranty claims are 'after the fact' data and can take 90 to 120 days or more to reach the point where any kind of analytics can be performed."
Yadgar added that The Internet of Things has revolutionized how automotive, aerospace and industrial equipment manufacturers design, manufacture and sustain their products. "As products become smart and connected, manufacturers have access to billions of streaming data points being generated by shop floor equipment, on-board diagnostics, social media and other data channels. New tools and approaches like our service offering are needed to develop forward-looking insights to help clients anticipate product failures, resolve them, and improve product design to avoid costly repairs or other negative impacts to the brand."
In July 2015, EY announced its EY Warranty Analytics service offering for the SAP HANA platform. The service includes advanced EY analytics for use with SAP technology to monitor warranty claims to identify fraudulent activity, as well as other cost-reduction and quality-improvement opportunities.
"As a MarketScape leader for both Worldwide SAP Implementation and Worldwide Business Analytics Consulting & Systems Integration services, EY was highly rated in today's capabilities and its future strategy, according to IDC and our Buyers Perception Survey," said IDC analyst Ali Zaidi. "Services like the joint Hortonworks Warranty solution helps strengthen the portfolio of services EY firms can offer to their clients."
