Extron Becomes First U.S.-Based Manufacturer to Earn UL Environment Energy Efficiency Certification
External power supply technology and professional audio amplifiers tested and verified for compliance with ENERGY STAR(R) qualifications
NORTHBROOK, Ill., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- UL Environment, Inc., a global leader in environmental evaluation and certification, announced today that Extron Electronics is the first domestic company to successfully undergo UL Environment's independent testing for U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR® performance and earn the UL Environment Energy Efficiency Certification (EEC) Mark for external power supplies and professional audio amplifiers. The mark will appear on two models from the Extron PS Series Desktop Power Supplies and packaging, which have been proven to meet energy efficiency criteria under the ENERGY STAR Single Voltage External AC-AC and AC-DC Power Supplies specification, Version 2.0. The mark will also appear on Extron XTRA Series Power Amplifiers which meet the new qualifications under ENERGY STAR Audio/Video Specification 2.0 program requirements.
"The UL Environment Energy Efficiency Certification program was developed to test and validate manufacturers' self-declared energy efficiency claims," said Steve Wenc, president of ULE. "Consumers can look for the EEC Mark on products and be confident that they are truly meeting ENERGY STAR and other government energy efficiency standards."
The EEC Mark will appear on both the product and product packaging, and features a leaf encapsulating the familiar "UL" initials with the words "Energy Verified" in black text.
"As a leading manufacturer in the A/V industry, Extron is committed to providing our customers with products that meet the highest standards of quality, performance and efficiency," says Andrew Edwards, President of Extron Electronics. "We are proud to be the first U.S. company with products verified by UL to truly meet Energy Star qualifications and to have earned the UL Environment Energy Efficiency Certification."
UL Environment has published the results of the selected models within the Extron PS Series Desktop Power Supply Family and Extron XTRA Series Power Amplifier test on its website, www.ulenvironment.com. Launched in February, the EEC program is applicable to multiple product categories, including appliances, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, high tech equipment and lighting products.
