Extreme Tech Challenge Kicks Off 2017-2018 Season in Norway - Applications Open Now!
Having opened Saturday, March 25th with an exciting sneak peek at new initiatives, XTC 2018 marks the new season in Norway
OSLO, Norway, March 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Extreme Tech Challenge 2018 - Norway -- A preeminent competition that propels startups to the frontier of innovation, Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC) opened up its fourth monumental contest in the snow-capped mountains of Oslo, Norway with its Official 2018 Kick Off Event. Taking place Saturday, March 25th to March 28th in conjunction with Oslo Business Region and Startup Lab, XTC brought a collective of the world's most brilliant minds and extreme athletes to unveil exciting new initiatives and a completely reimagined landscape for the 2017 - 2018 season of the Extreme Tech Challenge.
Festivities commenced with the Grand Launch Party on Saturday night where event host, Venture Capitalist and Co-Founder of Extreme Tech Challenge, Bill Tai, started the season by announcing the opening of the application window for XTC 2018. Further announcements revealed some new and exciting changes fans of XTC can expect to see this year, including the grand unveiling of XTC's new design.
Applications for XTC 2017 - 2018 Open Now
Joining Bill Tai as co-event hosts were Managing Director at Oslo Business Region, Fredrik Winther and Partner at StartupLab, Co-Founder of WeWantToKnow and NxtLvl, Rolf Assev. Illuminating round table discussions featured incredible guest speakers from the forefront of technology, engineering, healthcare, software, enterprises and extreme sports including: Director of Manufacturing Operations and supply chain engineering at Building 8, Facebook's new hardware division Paul Herz, Advocate for Women in Technology and founder of the Women-Tech Network in Norway Isabelle Ringnes, Jamaican businesswoman, former founder & CEO of dating intelligence app Lulu Alexandra Chong, Red Bull Pro Athlete and Olympic Champion Skier Askel Lund Svindal, last season's Wild Card winner MiniBrew, plus many more over the three day event.
Outside of mind-broadening discussions, the Norway retreat guests had an epic opportunity to enjoy the local fare and majestic landscape of the surrounding mountains. XTC invites intrepid contenders to apply for XTC 2018 -- Incredible opportunities await contestants at every level of competition. The contest occurs in key stages, with each round bringing contestants critical exposure to a singular audience and community of tech and business stakeholders.
- Stage I - October 9-11, 2017 - Top 25 Unveiling: A rigorous judging process from the get-go, the pool of applicants is narrowed down to the Top 25 startups, unveiled at CES Innovate and Celebrate with a celebration in San Francisco.
- Stage II - November 10, 2017 - Top 10 Unveiling at CES Unveiled NYC: Two months ahead of CES 2017 only 10 Semi-Finalists will be selected from the Top 25 XTC challengers. In addition to unveiling the Semi-Finalists, the annual event showcases the future of tech before the new year.
- Stage III - January 11, 2018 - XTC Semi-Finals at CES: Extreme Tech Challenge returns to CES Las Vegas for the semi-finals in 2018. This stage of the contest will see the chosen Top 10 pitch their tech live on-stage in hope of being one of three companies selected to move onto Necker Island.
- Stage IV - February 2018 - XTC Finals on Necker Island: Top 3 Finalists present to a panel of all-star judges, spearheaded by Branson. The XTC 2016-2017 panel boasted XTC co-founder Bill Tai, Tom Siebel, Jim Breyer, Steph Hannon and Theresia Gouw among other notable leaders.
