Extreme Makeover: Flute Edition!
The Greater Cleveland Flute Society Presents Jill Felber in a Recital, Masterclass and Workshop, Sunday, October 14, 2012
CLEVELAND, Oct. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Greater Cleveland Flute Society (GCFS) will present a recital and masterclass featuring Jill Felber on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at The Music Settlement, 11125 Magnolia Dr., Cleveland, Ohio 44106. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. to visit vendors Royalton Music, Motter's Music House and Flute Specialists. Program begins at 1:30. Admission is free for GCFS members (non-member tickets $10/adult, $5/student). This program is sponsored in part by Miyazawa Flutes.
Following the recital, Jill Felber will lead the audience in a short workshop: Extreme Makeover: Flute Edition! This workshop is an invigorating workout for all levels that explores exercises to develop flute tone (resonance, projection, focus, clarity, and tone coloration) and to improve facility and flexibility throughout the entire range of the flute. Audience members are encouraged to bring their flutes for this workshop.
In demand as a guest clinician because of her extraordinary motivational teaching style, Felber is currently Professor of Flute at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Holding degrees from University of Michigan and Bowling Green State University, Ms. Felber has taught on the faculties of Ohio University, Capital University, and Wright State University. Her teachers include Keith Bryan, Judith Bentley, Samuel Baron, and James Galway.
Ms. Felber will be accompanied by Dianne Frazer on piano, who is recognized globally as a premiere collaborative pianist. Known for her wit and style on and off stage, she exudes an energy and an excitement that is both irresistible and endearing. Frazer serves on the faculty of Louisiana State University and is the principal pianist for the National Flute Association.
Masterclass participants were chosen via blind audition and include Chelsea Tanner (The Ohio State University); Laura Pillman (Bowling Green State University); Kelly Mollnow Wilson (Medina, Ohio) and Denise Rotavera-Krain (Wooster, Ohio); and Kari Boyer (The Ohio State University).
The Greater Cleveland Flute Society (GCFS) sponsors recitals, masterclasses, student festivals and lectures throughout the year to promote flute education and instruction in the community at all levels.
