At the core of the portfolio, US patents 5,773,921, RE38,561, and RE38,223 relate to field emission display (FED), the underlying technology behind next-generation flat panel displays.  Together, the patents have been cited by major corporations working in the display field, including Samsung, Hitachi, Sony, Canon, Sharp, Toshiba, Motorola, IBM, and Alcatel Lucent – the '921 patent alone has over 120 forward citations.  In 2004, patent RE38,223 was listed by the Intellectual Property & Technology Law Journal as one of the top ten Nanotech Patents in the world.(1)
