'Exquisite Earth' Exhibition Opens in Pacifica
Digital Photography Pioneer Stephen Johnson's Work on Display at the Pacifica Center for the Arts
PACIFICA, Calif., Nov. 30, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- An extraordinary collection of works by noted digital photographer Stephen Johnson will be on display in his studio gallery at the Pacifica Center for the Arts beginning December 10th, 2010. An opening reception with the artist will be held from 6:00 to 10:00PM (PST) on that date. The display will contain all new work drawn from Mr. Johnson's last 5 years of planetary exploration. Dramatic images created in Antarctica, the Galapagos, Iceland, the American West and elsewhere will be included in the exhibition. Johnson's gallery is located one mile from Highway One and Linda Mar State Beach at 1220c Linda Mar Blvd., in Pacifica, CA 94044.
"This exhibition is the first public display of images drawn exclusively from my Canon dSLR work over the last 5 years" says Johnson. Mr. Johnson helped birth the era of digital photography via his lush, large format digital works captured throughout the U.S. national parks system in the 1990s. He has consulted and advised most of the major industry players through their transition into today's digital photographic world. Johnson has maintained his commitment to the "real witness of real scenes" approach to photography and has taught thousands of students in his photography workshops.

Stephen Johnson is a landscape photographer, designer and teacher. In 2003 he was inducted into the Photoshop Hall of Fame. Canon named him to their Explores of Light program in 2006 and X-Rite as a founding member of their exclusive Coloratti color experts group in 2007.
