WASHINGTON, Jan. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Laura Foggan to its Washington, D.C. office as a partner in the firm's Insurance/Reinsurance Group. Foggan brings more than 25 years of experience handling a wide range of trial and appellate matters involving complex insurance claims, and she is a thought leader in the legal field on insurance matters. She has participated in more than 200 appeals nationwide and has made significant contributions to the development of key insurance law precedents across the United States.

Foggan joins the firm from Wiley Rein LLP, where she led its Insurance Appellate Group. She has served as lead counsel in insurance disputes involving environmental and toxic tort, construction defect, personal and advertising injury, employment liability, product liability, mass tort and bad faith claims.
In addition to her litigation work, Foggan counsels insurers on emerging exposures, currently addressing issues such as cyber risk, privacy and data breach claims, and risks and opportunities relating to the commercial use of unmanned aircraft systems. She has significant experience representing insurer trade groups on a wide variety of issues affecting the business of insurance. On behalf of both individual insurers and industry trade groups, she advocates for insurers in legislative and regulatory matters. Her clients have included: the Complex Insurance Claims Litigation Association, American Insurance Association, National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies and Property Casualty Insurers' Association of America.

She is a member of the Defense Research Institute.
Foggan received her J.D., with high honors and Order of the Coif, from the George Washington University Law School; her M.S. Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania; and her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.
