Experience Local Seattle Restaurants in December and Help Bring Homeless Families Inside to Warmth and Comfort

SEATTLE, Dec. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Imagine you're running around doing errands and it's cold, dark and raining. Or you have family in town and you're sightseeing and it's cold, dark and raining.

Or you're driving home from work, stuck in traffic and it's cold, dark and raining. No matter what the situation, it always gets better when you walk into your local restaurant and order your favorite winter comfort food.

Now imagine you could have that experience at your favorite local restaurant AND help bring homeless Seattle families with children inside when it's cold, dark and raining.

Twelve local Seattle restaurants are working to feed, shelter and lift-up homeless families and children in our community by partnering with Mary's Place in the No Child Sleeps Outside campaign.

"On any given night, there are 500 families in the Seattle area sleeping outside," said Marty Hartman, Executive Director of Mary's Place. "Many of them can be found in cars and some in tents. We've pulled mothers and their children out of porta-potties. These families are just seeking a safe place to come inside to restore their dignity."

Independent, local restaurateurs of the Seattle Restaurant Alliance have pledged money, food and job support to aid the crucial effort.

Currently participating restaurants are: Dick's Drive-In Restaurants, Lunchbox Laboratory, Neighborhood Grills, Rhein Haus, Poquitos, Sam's Tavern, Bitterroot, Mammoth, Elliott Bay Brewery & Pub, Century Ballroom/Tin Table and Moshi Moshi.

In addition to donating money, the restaurateurs and their staff members are rolling up their sleeves to help by organizing a virtual job fair to match individuals in need with stable, quality hospitality jobs, donating food and leftovers to shelters and volunteering at crisis centers and special events.
