ExpeditionDI Training Exercises at U.S. Army Maneuver Conference and BOLD Quest 2011 Underscore Power and Flexibility of Nine-Person Squad Simulation
SAN JOSE, Calif. Sept. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of visual computing solutions for government and commercial applications, today announced its award-winning ExpeditionDI is being demonstrated at the 2011 Annual U.S. Army Maneuver Warfighting Conference at the Iron Works Convention and Trade Center in Room 211 from Sept. 13-14. ExpeditionDI, the industry's first self-contained, wearable and fully-immersive close combat training platform, is part of the Dismounted Solider Training System led by the Army's Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI). The system will be demonstrated as a nine person Squad Kit, illustrating its high flexibility in the simulation of synchronized and coordinated large scale joint training operations.
"When you see the ExpeditionDI Squad Kit in action, you experience first-hand the impact this platform has on a soldier's readiness," said Arthur Yan, president, Quantum3D. "The demo helps underscore the training power and flexibility of ExpeditionDI to help prepare today's infantry for the battle-field through real-world simulations and critical team communication training exercises."
ExpeditionDI will also be demonstrated at BOLD Quest 2011, held at the Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC) near Edinburgh, Ind. Camp Atterbury serves as a premier training site for both individuals and units from all branches of service for both Reserve and Active Duty training, as well as other special training events.
The ExpeditionDI platform provides a collective training environment where trainees are jointly immersed in safe and realistic virtual scenarios – enabling infantry squads to move through and interact in simulated environments while fighting and communicating as they would in a real-world situation. The various virtual scenarios challenge participants to move and act as individuals and simultaneously maintain the communication and coordination necessary to function effectively as a team in order to achieve mission success.
Equipped with a high-resolution Head Mounted Display (HMD) and fully integrated wearable computing pack, ExpeditionDI responds simultaneously to multiple body and weapon movements, reinforcing needed reflex actions. In addition, systems can be networked to larger scale exercises to support combined arms and joint forces training.
