Carolyn Lamm, AUCC Chairperson and one of the chamber's founders, welcomed Ambassador Bakhtiyar Gulyamov's initiative to visit neighboring Pennsylvania as "...seeing what the US companies can offer will lead to the expansion of trade between our countries and growth of opportunities for the American and Uzbek people. The AUCC appreciates the support of Mr. Antonio Ceballos, Director of the US Commercial Service in Philadelphia, PA and Dr. Ram Mudambi, Executive Director for Center for International Business Education and Research at the Fox School of Business, Temple University, for their willingness to organize the meeting and allow the Embassy staff to advance their relations with Philadelphia businesses. The visit would not have been possible without participation of these two organizations".
As a staunch supporter of the business cooperation between the US and Uzbekistan, the AUCC has become the lead voice of the US business community operating in the Uzbek market which is currently negotiating contracts and projects worth USD4 billion. "We applaud Ambassador Gulyamov's plans to travel to Pennsylvania and meet with the local business community and international business students. We pride ourselves in fostering excellent relations with the Ambassador and his commercial staff and colleagues in Tashkent. We are fortunate to have the Ambassador's focus on economic engagement and stand ready to showcase the US technological innovations and management excellence that the people of Uzbekistan will benefit from..." added Tim McGraw, AUCC President.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, the US and Uzbekistan have been working closely on increasing bilateral trade. In 2012 the US exports to Uzbekistan totaled more than $285 million compared to $100 million in 2011 and $101 million in 2010. The upcoming roundtable in Philadelphia is an opportunity for new US companies to unlock Uzbekistan's potential and match their activities that are relevant to those set by the people of Uzbekistan.
The roundtable will begin at 9.00 AM on November 20, 2013 and will be held at: Fox School of Business, Temple University, 1801 Liacouras Walk, The Fox Board Room, 3rd Floor, Alter Hall, Philadelphia, PA 19122-6038.
