Exide Technologies Awarded Contract from the Defense Logistics Agency
MILTON, Ga., April 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Exide Technologies (www.exide.com), a global provider of stored electrical energy solutions, today announced that it has been awarded a new contract with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to supply 6TAGM military batteries. The new contract between Exide and the DLA is a three-year contract with two, one-year option periods. The three-year base contract has a value of approximately $47 million.
The 6TAGM military battery is designed and qualified to meet stringent military specifications for primary use by military services and military manufacturers in tanks, armored vehicles and similar equipment applications. Orders are expected to begin April 2017 with batteries then being delivered to military bases and sites across the globe.
"Exide is honored and excited to grow our relationship with the DLA and to further support the agency's critical defense efforts," said Vic Koelsch, President and CEO of Exide Technologies. "This award, and the associated investments we are making to support it, show our commitment to the defense industry and to supplying quality products that meet or exceed strict government standards."
The new contract win is the latest development in Exide's 25-year-long partnership with the DLA. Exide supplies the DLA with batteries for military vehicle applications, primarily for the support of the U.S. military's fleet of rolling stock vehicles for the Department of Defense and other agencies. Exide is the only full-line supplier of qualified 6T batteries (6TL, 6TMF, 6TAGM) in the industry.
