Executive Director of Museum of the African Diaspora SF Receives Honor
Linda Harrison Recipient in Powerful Women of the Bay Award
SAN FRANCISCO, March 10, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- It's really no surprise that Linda Harrison, Executive Director of San Francisco's Museum of the African Diaspora, (www.moadsf.org) will be honored at the 5th Annual Powerful Women of the Bay Awards Luncheon on March 27 at Wedgewood in the Metropolitan Golf Club in Oakland. The event celebrates the outstanding contributions of women in the San Francisco Bay Area in honor of Women's History Month in March. The theme of this year's Women's History Month is Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment.
"It is a privilege to be included in this select group of amazing women. The award exemplifies diversity among women in the Bay Area and applauds the meaningful impact of our various contributions to the surrounding community and how our efforts enrich the lives of others," said Harrison, who is also nominated for The Most Influential Women in Business Award given by the San Francisco Business Times this spring.
More than 300 people are expected to attend the luncheon to celebrate the eight women recognized as the year's Powerful Women of the Bay. Each woman is passionate about educating, empowering and connecting with women in business and the community to make a difference in the lives of others. The honorees include CEOs, a corporate President, Vice President, local Councilmember, Board of Supervisors Member and Fire Chief.
Tickets are available at www.powerfulebwomen.com. Some of the proceeds from the event benefit the Training Institute for Leadership Enrichment, a non-profit group dedicated to increasing the number of African American women in leadership roles throughout California. The initiative, created by Black Women Organized for Political Action, is called Vision for Change.
