Executive Auto Group Sponsors Mehovic Family Fundraiser
SOUTHINGTON, Conn., July 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Executive Auto Group, in cooperation with Aziago's Restaurant and Tire Depot of Bristol CT, organized a fundraiser for Haris and Emir Mehovic on Sunday, July 10th at Rec Park in Southington, CT. Haris and Emir lost their parents recently when their father shot and killed their mother, Saudina Mehovic, and then committed suicide. This tragic event shocked the local community and garnered national media coverage.
More than 800 supporters enjoyed a beautiful day of fun, food and music at the Mehovic Family Fundraiser Picnic. While there have been other fundraisers, "Sunday's event has been the biggest to date, raising more than $30,000," according to Scott Orsini, owner of the Executive Auto Group. "The whole community pulled together, the generosity from the local CT business community was amazing, volunteers were great, we had a wonderful turnout and donations continue to come in," Orsini said.
While many in attendance never met the family, they showed up to support the boys. Friends, family, businesses and students helped with ticket sales, served food and helped clean up.
"The entire event was organized in less than a month," said Bob Cugliari, Aziago's Restaurant, adding, "and we were able to do so only with the overwhelming support from all sectors of the community." Proceeds from the event will be put into a trust fund for the two boys. If you would like to contribute, donations are still being accepted. Checks can be written out to "The Haris and Emir Family Trust" and dropped off at or mailed to the People's Bank in Southington. Their address is 812 Queen St, Southington, CT.
"While the Executive Auto Group sponsors community activities on a regular basis, the Mehovic Family Fundraiser was one of our most successful that was planned in such a short period of time," Orsini concluded.
