David Yarrow spoke passionately about his work and the importance of photography in helping conservation efforts. Ellen O'Connell, executive director of Tusk USA, gave the audience insight into the current poaching crisis that is threatening some of the world's most iconic species. By partnering with local communities, Tusk is combining conservation, education and job creation to make positive change, one step at a time.
The message of the evening -- that conservation is a global issue and demands our attention – was particularly powerful against the backdrop of Yarrow's extraordinary images. At the current rate of poaching, species such as elephant, rhino and lion are facing extinction within our lifetimes. With wildlife populations disappearing at this astonishing rate, it has never been more important that we take action now.
David Yarrow is Europe's best selling wildlife photographer, Nikon UK ambassador, and Tusk's affiliated photographer.
Tusk, whose Royal Patron is HRH The Duke of Cambridge, works to protect wildlife while mitigating poverty and providing educational opportunities throughout Africa.
