Exciting Healthcare News for Women of Mid Michigan
FLINT, Mich., Nov. 4, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Regional Medical Imaging (RMI) in Flint announced today that it is the first imaging center in Michigan to receive Accreditation for Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
In May 2010, the ACR unveiled the Breast MRI Accreditation Program to recognize imaging centers that meet the highest standards in quality of care for Breast MRI. RMI received this new distinction after a comprehensive evaluation of image quality, equipment performance, personnel qualifications, and quality control measures.
"We are thrilled to be the first center in the state to receive this designation," said Randy Hicks, M.D. "This accreditation is an outstanding achievement that, added to our existing Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation, demonstrates how we continue to raise the bar in delivering quality care to women."
"Applying advanced imaging technology to the early detection of breast cancer has been a primary mission of RMI since our inception," said David A. Strahle, M.D. "We're honored to receive this recognition, but we also view this milestone as a challenge to continue to forge ahead toward new advances in the fight against breast cancer."
For more than 25 years, RMI has maintained a strong commitment to leadership in providing state-of-the-art breast cancer detection and women's imaging services in the mid-Michigan market. This includes having been the first Medicare-approved mammogram screening program in Michigan. As a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, RMI is also fully accredited in mammography, breast ultrasound, ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, and stereotactic breast biopsy.
"I am proud that our team continuously strives to improve patient care by participating in rigorous quality assurance programs," added Dr. Hicks. "Adding another accreditation to our list of existing achievements is truly icing on the cake."
