Excellence in Charity Work Wins Al Rajhi Bank First Place in "Competitiveness for Responsibility" Awards

- Leading Islamic Bank Comes Out Top of 80 Saudi Companies for Second Year Running in Awards Organized as Part of Global Competitiveness Forum
For the second year in a row Al Rajhi Bank has achieved first place ahead of 80 other large Saudi companies participating at the Saudi "Competitiveness for Responsibility" awards.
Held as part of the Global Competitiveness Forum activities, the ceremony honouring the participants was organized by Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority with the support of the King Khalid Charitable Foundation.
The Certificate of Excellence was presented to the bank by HRH Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Khalid Charitable Foundation, and was received by Mr. Saud Al Hoshan, Human Resources Manager at Al Rajhi Bank.
The Competitiveness for Responsibility Index is based on a set of criteria that includes the procedures followed by companies in their corporate charitable programs and donations, assessed according to their impact on supporting the national development agenda.
Al Rajhi Bank was awarded first place for its excellent work in community services through a number of innovative charity programs that contributed to the sustainability of the social and economic development of the community, reflecting the bank's commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Al Rajhi Bank conducts ongoing research to acquire a thorough understanding of the needs of various segments of society and develops its charitable programmes accordingly in order to maximize the effect of its support for the beneficiaries.
Among the many CSR programs that Al Rajhi Bank has instituted in recent years are the health program in partnership with King Saud University that includes SR 70 million to establish a medical centre for the treatment of incurable diseases; and SR 2 million to support the Prince Sultan emergency and ambulance services.
Smaller programs include: a project taking care of 11 families as a part of the Blessed Hand Program in the Aseer region; honoring 228 top female high school students across all parts of the Kingdom; participating in the environmental awareness campaign launched by the Riyadh Municipality which aimed at cleaning up one million sq. metres of wild park areas; organizing and aiding summer training sessions for 300 male and female high school and college students; financing cooperative training for 77 trainees; in addition to various other contributions, sponsorships and participation in other charitable and social activities.
