Ex-Senior White House Spokesman and Claude Pepper Chief of Staff Robert Weiner set to Keynote J-J Dinner at Naples Beach Resort (Florida) 8:15 PM Sat. Feb. 25; Media Invited
WILL ASK WHAT WORLD WOULD BE LIKE IF GORE ALLOWED RECOUNT UNDER COURT "REMAND", HOW WE NEED CLAUDE PEPPER'S COURAGE NOW TO FIGHT MEDICARE CUTS, AND FUTURE ECONOMICS UNDER DEMS VERSUS REPUBLICAN RICH-TAX-BREAKS
WASHINGTON and NAPLES, Fla., Feb. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- National Democratic Strategist and columnist Robert Weiner, a former Clinton White House spokesman and the former Chief of Staff for the House Aging Committee under Florida icon Claude Pepper, will keynote the Collier Country Democrats' Jefferson-Jackson Dinner at the Naples Beach Resort Saturday night, Feb. 25. Weiner's speech is estimated at 8:15 PM, following the co-keynote by Florida State Democratic Chair Rod Smith. Media are invited.
ADVISORY TO MEDIA: Weiner said he will ask what the world and nation would be like if Al Gore in 2000 had allowed a Florida recount under the US Supreme Court's "remand" – if the "consistent statewide recount" the Court asked had made Gore the winner—a 50-50 chance by most accounts—what it would have been like if there were no Iraq War but a laser-focus on immediately getting bin Laden in Afghanistan (where he was), and if the Clinton-Gore budget and its surpluses had continued without the Bush deficits from the rich tax breaks and Iraq War.
Weiner will also, he said, assert that "We need Claude Pepper's courage now" to fight Medicare and Social Security cuts used to fund continued rich tax breaks. He will also address future economics and national job restoration prospects under Democratic versus Republican proposals, pointing to 5.4% GDP growth under Democratic presidents since 1930 with targeted jobs plans versus Republican presidents' 1.6% GDP growth since 1930 focusing on rich-tax-breaks and ineffective "trickle down."
In addition to working for the White House and Pepper's Aging Committee, Weiner was also a senior aide to Reps. John Conyers of Mich., Charles Rangel of N.Y., Ed Koch of N.Y., and Sen. Ted Kennedy of Mass. He directed the Daily Press Briefing Room at the last Democratic National Convention and has written 160 oped columns in top papers including many in Florida.
