eWBM unveils FIDO2-Certified Fingerprint Authenticator, eFA500
The Compact and portable security USB device comes with FIDO2-certified fingerprint authentication technology. The product provides superior experiences in the field of corporations, commercial banks, governments, or general consumer market that requires security controls.
SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The fabless SoC company is announcing that the eWBM Golden Gate® device (model eFA500) has passed the FIDO2 interoperability test and received the FIDO2 certification. The first Interop testing event for FIDO2 was organized by the FIDO Alliance in the Silicon Valley in August 2018, in which many member-companies participated in validating the compatibility of each implementation. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) accepted the FIDO2 protocol as the standard to provide a simpler but stronger web authentication method for users around the world.
The eWBM Golden Gate® device is powered by eWBM's security SoC chip, MS500, which provides hardware-based security features such as a secure boot, secure storage, low power crypto engines, true random number generator, and secure digital key management features. The FIDO2-certified authenticator runs with the embedded fingerprint recognition algorithm from Precise Biometrics, the world leader in fingerprint recognition market. The device comes in a handy and compact size of a USB type-A dongle in a silver metallic body and case cover, so that it provides portability for users and easy accessibility to any host machines which runs with Windows 7 and 10, and MacOS.
According to Dr. Stephen Oh, CEO of eWBM, "FIDO2 provides the basis of a passwordless web experience. eWBM's FIDO2-certified fingerprint authenticator opens the door to the world of biometric authentication web access. It is a compact and portable security device that provides a superior user experience, thanks to its no-ID and no-password authentication functions."
The FIDO2-certified device also received the FIDO U2F certification from the FIDO Alliance in April 2018. The multi-support feature of FIDO U2F and FIDO2 protocols provides flexibility on choosing FIDO clients as well as seamless transition from one to the other.
The device can be utilized for secure access controls to any web-based remote resources, which is an essential feature to a diverse consumer base, ranging anywhere from corporations, commercial banks, government institutes, to anyone in the general population who may require security controls.
