EVTN Team Voraxial ® Gives Thanks to Wendy Schmidt and the X PRIZE Foundation
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Enviro Voraxial Technology, Inc. (OTCOB: EVTN) extends its gratitude to the Wendy Schmidt Oil Cleanup X Prize Foundation for developing, organizing and administering a worldwide competition for oil spill recovery. EVTN was honored to be selected as one of 10 finalists from among 350 international contenders for the $1.4 Million Wendy Schmidt Oil Cleanup X CHALLENGE. The 10 finalists included a diverse group of domestic and international companies, some with decades of oil spill response experience.
Since the Voraxial 8000 can process and separate much greater volumes of oil and water than any known mechanical separator of its size or energy consumption, Team Voraxial entered the competition fully anticipating that they had a potential winner. The Submersible Voraxial 8000 performed flawlessly during the competition. However, as occasionally happens during initial test conditions, an auxiliary pump used to transfer the output of the Voraxial to a holding tank was compromised and unable to deliver more than a small percentage of the Voraxial's total output. The holding tank is where the measurement of the captured oil for the test was conducted. This resulted in test results that did not measure the actual Voraxial performance. Even though Team Voraxial did not ultimately win the X Prize, they came away with an even stronger conviction that the Voraxial represents the highest performance oil/water separation technology available for oil spill cleanup applications. The visibility afforded by the X PRIZE to demonstrate the Voraxial 8000 has already resulted in increased inquiries and project reviews from both oil spill response companies and the oil exploration and production industry.
EVTN is the developer and manufacturer of the Voraxial® Separator, a high volume, compact separation device that separates contaminants from water. The compactness, light weight and low energy requirements of the Voraxial® enables it to be installed on new vessels or retrofitted on existing vessels for oil spill response. Additionally, similar to other auxiliary equipment on vessels such as firefighting hoses, the Voraxial's® small footprint allows it to be secured on vessels, such as tug boats and supply vessels, without interfering with the main function of the vessel. Multiple Voraxial® 8000 models, each capable of processing 7,000,000 gallons of oily water per day, can easily be retrofitted on an average size supply vessel and quickly convert them into a high volume oil spill recovery vessel. EVTN is in discussions to pursue this oil spill solution to protect a large region from multiple simultaneous Deepwater Horizon disasters.
EVTN is experiencing record sales this year while focusing system development and sales efforts towards oil/water/solid separation applications for offshore and onshore production facilities in the oil exploration and production industry. These results follow EVTN management's decision to concentrate resources and R&D funds on the oil exploration and production market. The company's unique technology allows it to effectively separate contaminants from a large volume of liquids with low energy, space and weight requirements. These attributes along with its ease of operation and separation efficiency make the technology desirable for use in multiple industries and led the Company to reach the finals of the X CHALLENGE.
"We thank the X PRIZE Foundation for undertaking this great competition. The increased market awareness EVTN realized through participation in this competition has already resulted in inquiries from oil spill response companies with good skimmers and poor separation equipment. Just as important, sales inquiries for the Voraxial 8000 Separator from oil exploration and production companies have also increased," said John A. Di Bella, COO of EVTN. "We believe the Voraxial 8000 will be our best selling model. It fills a big void in the market."
ABOUT ENVIRO VORAXIAL TECHNOLOGY
Enviro Voraxial Technology, Inc. (OTCOB "EVTN") is a Fort Lauderdale, Florida based CleanTech company that developed and manufactures the Voraxial Separator, a highly efficient technology for high volume, bulk separation of fluids such as oil and water. The Voraxial Separator is a unique, patented, in-line, continuous-flow separator capable of pumping and simultaneously separating up to three components, such as oil, water and sand. It's a mechanical separator that separates contaminants at high volumes with less space, energy, weight and cost than conventional equipment. The Voraxial Separator benefits include: high volume/small footprint, no pressure drop requirement, two-way or three-way separation, ability to handle fluctuations in flow rate and oil concentration without any adjustments, high "G" force and less maintenance than conventional equipment. These benefits result in significant acquisition and operating cost savings to the customer. The Voraxial® may stand alone or serve to enhance the capabilities of other environmental or energy technologies.
The separation market encompasses a series of multi-billion dollar segments including: oil and gas exploration and production, refinery, tar sands, mining, oil spill, wastewater treatment, manufacturing, remediation and much more. EVTN was originally founded as a high precision aerospace manufacturer that built the gyro platforms for the Hubble space telescope as well as missile and satellite components. EVTN owns significant intellectual property surrounding the Voraxial®. For more information, please visit www.evtn.com.
