techaWare "Wine, Women & Tech" Event Draws Well Over 150 Participants at Evolve IP Headquarters
WAYNE, Pa., Nov. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Evolve IP®, The Cloud Strategy Company™, today announced that two women in its global organization were noted for their exceptional ability and expertise in technology and business. Noraini Ozol and Sarah Landau, were recognized by two independent organizations: Mrs. Ozol was noted as one of Philadelphia's "Women of Distinction" while Ms. Landau was selected to participate with an elite global team in an industry "hackathon". Additionally, techaWare, the grass-roots organization started by six of Evolve IP's female associates, held an education and networking event "Wine, Women & Tech" that was attended by well over 150 women.
Noraini Ozol, Evolve IP's Senior Vice President of Strategic Analysis and Planning, is a member of the company's founding management team and was recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal as one of the region's "Women of Distinction". Among her contributions to the business, Mrs. Ozol developed the financial models, performance measures, and internal business intelligence process controls that continue to drive Evolve IP's sales, profitability, and operational performance. Today 420,000 users around the world, including clients like Marriott, Ford, and Virgin, along with Philadelphia stalwarts like Tastykake, Firstrust Bank, and Cozen O'Connor, leverage the technology business systems and processes that Mrs. Ozol has developed, designed and manages with her team at Evolve IP.
When asked about her recognition Mrs. Ozol noted, "I am very honored by the recognition from the Philadelphia Business Journal but want to be sure our team of data scientists and business analysts are recognized as well for helping us run the company with sound fundamentals. When we do our job we have the full landscape needed for critical business decisions; we already know what's happening and what's going to happen next."
Sarah Landau, an Evolve IP Development Engineer based in Israel, was selected with 24 other women from 18 different countries to participate in an elite international "hackathon" sponsored by booking.com. She was chosen from hundreds of candidates and traveled to Amsterdam for an all-consuming three-day event. During her time she was teamed with other female technologists including software engineers, front-end and back-end developers, and graphics professionals with the goal of implementing real-world solutions for challenges facing the travel industry.
Sarah noted, "I grew up in an ultra-orthodox community where women typically aren't provided with a path for a career in technology. However, I found ways to learn and grow independently and in 2015 I went out on my own. I have been very fortunate to find groups and communities that seek to unite and empower women in the tech industry and was really proud to take part at this special Women in Tech event and represent Evolve IP."
On October 17th well over 150 women from the Philadelphia region attended the techaWare Wine, Women and Tech event held at the Evolve IP corporate headquarters in Wayne, PA. techaWare, which was started by six of Evolve IP's female associates, is a group whose charter is to help women enter, advance and grow a career in technology or in a technology firm. Unlike many 'tech-jargon-heavy' events, the discussions at the Wine, Women and Tech event were focused on helping women without tech backgrounds find career entry points. Additional conversations were geared on helping women accomplish their goals when dealing with male-dominated tech teams.
Nicci Townsend, a co-founder of techaWare noted, "We are just thrilled with the turnout at the event and want to thank all of the women who attended for their thoughtful conversations. Our message to them remains that women do not have to have a background in tech to work in a tech company. Based on the feedback from the women we spoke with I am very hopeful that we have encouraged them to make a positive change in their life and take on the career opportunities that technology and technology firms provide."
Mrs. Townsend continued, "We're also incredibly grateful for the help and support from award-winning Etty Klein from Plonk Wine Club and the staff at Wines Til Sold Out. As part of the event, we wanted all of the wines to be from women-owned wineries. The selections they recommended and provided helped take the evening to another level."
