Evite® Reveals Winter Holiday Party Trend Report
With Winter Cheer in Full Effect, Experts Offer Trends and Tips for Hosting and Attending Christmas and New Year's Eve Celebrations
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Evite (www.evite.com), the leader in digital invitations and social planning since 1998, today revealed its monthly Holiday Party Trend Report which features monthly insight on holiday party trends and tips. The report highlights Christmas and New Year's Eve get-togethers— two of Evite's most popular party holidays. With over 36K invitations already sent out in Los Angeles for Christmas parties and over 4K for New Year's Eve, the City of Angels is Evite's most popular destination for both gatherings. Following in Los Angeles' footsteps is New York City, another leading party hot spot with over 28K people already planning to throw Christmas fetes and over 5K people planning their New Year's Eve bashes.
"The winter holidays bring so much joy and warmth to our hearts – with Christmas parties, cookie exchanges, New Year's Eve celebrations and more," said Marilyn Oliveira, editorial director at Evite. "With so many reasons to bring friends and loved ones together, we are thrilled to offer hosts expert insight on what's trending this holiday season so they can spend less time planning and more time creating unforgettable experiences with family and friends."
CHRISTMAS
What's trending: "White Christmas" is a popular theme this year, where everything from the food to the decor is all-white. It's a clean, photogenic look that works with any style and is absolutely timeless, plus it's easy to create. Signature bars organized around a single theme are also popular, with styles ranging from modern and sophisticated to rustic and simple, with cocktails to match.
Top decor: It's all about simplicity this year. Deck the tree in all-white decorations to set the tone. Gifts can be beautifully wrapped in white paper, so they can serve as decor at parties before they're opened on Christmas morning.
Recipe suggestions: Beautifully styled and presented food always elevates a celebration. To keep with the theme of simplicity, purchase rather than make your food, and display it really well for an elegant look without all the work. For hosts who wish to bake, try making gingerbread reindeer, espresso Kahlua balls or peanut butter holiday blossoms.
Top etiquette tip: If you're attending a work-related holiday party, don't post photos of your boss or coworkers on social media without asking them first.
NEW YEAR'S EVE
What's trending: Champagne and dessert parties are popular this year, as well as interactive desserts, starting with the old classics – fondue and s'mores. DIY bubble bars are also "popping" up.
Top decor: No New Year's party is complete without a confetti bar. Set out a few glass vases or apothecary jars filled with confetti. Include treat bags and scoops, and invite guests to mix their own confetti to toss at midnight.
Recipe suggestions: Try roasted holiday nuts with lemon & rosemary, classic profiteroles, and festive Jello vodka shots.
Top etiquette tip: Put your cell phone on vibrate! Enjoy the company of the people you're with – it might even be an excellent New Year's resolution.
To keep the holiday cheer going, Evite has officially launched its Evite Top Party Pro contest. Four LA-based designers were given an Evite holiday invitation for inspiration and a mystery box of items for which to create a party. During the first two weeks of December, party-goers and hosts can vote for their favorite party stylist for a chance to win the party supplies for the winning theme, as well as $250 in cash to throw the event. Follow the conversation and submit your vote now: http://ideas.evite.com/evite-top-party-pro/. The winners will be announced via Google Hangout on December 16th.
