EVgo August 2018 Fast Charging Scorecard Leaves Full-year 2017 Record in the Dust
MARKET ACCELERATING AT RECORD SPEEDS
EVgo's Miles Charged Show Dramatic Year-over-Year Growth on Nation's Largest Public Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Network
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- EVgo, America's largest public electric vehicle (EV) fast charging network, announced today that the company has already surpassed its record number of annual EV miles charged in 2017. Through mid-August 2018, EVgo fast charged more EV miles than the entire year of 2017, illuminating the dramatic growth of EV miles traveled in the United States, driven largely by rideshare drivers using electric vehicles.
In 2018, EVgo has fast charged more than 42 million miles for EV drivers across the U.S., a 2 million increase over miles charged for the full year of 2017. With more than 1,000 fast chargers and 8 years of operating history, EVgo is the nation's largest public fast charging network, offering fast charging to all EV drivers.
"The number of EVs that accept fast charging is expected to quadruple over the next two years," said Cathy Zoi, EVgo CEO. "Due to a very rapid increase in electric vehicle miles charged in 2018, led by the rideshare segment, EVgo is accelerating our deployment of public fast charging and dedicated networks in collaboration with our partners. As electric vehicles become the preferred mobility choice for personal use, rideshare drivers, and fleets, EVgo expects to invest at a rate to meet growing demand."
Within the next year, EVgo will develop, own, and operate hundreds more fast chargers, expanding its fast charging network for both public use as well as for dedicated use by rideshare drivers for General Motors' Maven Gig. In addition, EVgo was recently selected to develop, own, and operate a $14 million statewide public EV charging network in Virginia as the first Volkswagen mitigation settlement Appendix D awardee.
With more than 1,000 fast chargers in 34 states, EVgo's conveniently-located stations at malls, grocery stores, convenience stores, and downtown parking garages, make it easier – and faster – for all EV drivers to charge their cars. Most EV drivers complete an 80% charge using EVgo's fast chargers in the time it takes to grab lunch, with an option to use either CCS or CHAdeMO connectors to charge any EV capable of accepting a fast charge.
