Eversheds Sutherland Launches Employee Relief Fund
ATLANTA, Jan. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP is pleased to announce it has formed the Eversheds Sutherland Employee Relief Fund, which is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to assisting US employees and their families impacted by natural disasters, injury or illness, or personal disasters such as a house fire that cannot be adequately dealt with through personal resources, insurance or public programs (such as FEMA or the Red Cross).
The relief fund was created with the financial support of Eversheds Sutherland, and is also funded by partners and employees, who have the ability to donate a discretionary monetary amount through payroll deduction. The Board of Directors includes both partners and employees of Eversheds Sutherland with representation from all US offices, and is led by US Pro Bono Partner John H. Fleming. The relief fund is currently applying for its determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service.
"Our people are our most important resource," said Mark D. Wasserman, Co-CEO of Eversheds Sutherland. "When a colleague experiences a personal crisis or emergency and has nowhere else to turn, this fund allows us to respond quickly to help that colleague when he or she needs it most. Established in response to the desire of employees wanting to help their colleagues during hurricanes, fires and other recent disasters, the fact that support is provided, in part, from co-workers makes it even more meaningful."
Aileen Bleach, US Pro Bono and Corporate Responsibility Manager at Eversheds Sutherland, added: "We have always come together to help each other in times of crisis. This fund takes the existing generosity of our people and makes the process more efficient."
In addition to Eversheds Sutherland's commitment to its employees during life-changing moments, it is also dedicated to programs that support the community at large. Among other things, Eversheds Sutherland gives generously of its time, talent and resources by participating in charitable events, sponsoring volunteer projects, and supporting its own pro bono legal services program.
