Evernote Announces Evernote Accelerator
New Program in Partnership with Honda Silicon Valley Lab and DOCOMO Innovation Ventures to Mentor Evernote Platform Developers
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Evernote today announced Evernote Accelerator, a month-long intensive mentorship program that will help promising developer teams using the Evernote platform transform nascent projects into viable products. Selected from among the most talented entrants in the 2013 Evernote Devcup, Accelerator teams will be invited, expenses paid, to work directly with Evernote senior developers and designers to hone their projects at Evernote headquarters.
The Evernote Accelerator program is led by Rafe Needleman, current Evernote platform advocate and former technology journalist with 15 years of experience covering early stage-start-ups.
The program's curriculum begins in October 2013 and will offer participating teams guidance on product design, marketing and business development. Evernote Accelerator will culminate with a launch event in November 2013, where Accelerator teams will demo their products in front of an audience of journalists, investors and Silicon Valley thought leaders.
Produced in partnership with Honda Silicon Valley Lab (HSVL) and DOCOMO Innovation Ventures (DIV), the Evernote 2013 Devcup and Accelerator Program will also promote feature development in two unique areas. HSVL is sponsoring a special transportation-focused prize (Honda Innovation Award) for the best enhancements to the in-vehicle experience, and DIV is sponsoring the DOCOMO Mobile Magic Award for the best mobile experience. HSVL and DIV will each help select a team to represent their respective categories in the Evernote Accelerator.
"With Evernote Accelerator, we're going beyond just offering a platform for developers to build on," said Rafe Needleman. "This program is allowing us to team up with cool partners like HSVL and DIV to help promising young developers create innovative products that work with Evernote and to help turn their products into robust businesses."
Teams invited to attend the Evernote Accelerator will receive travel and lodging expenses along with a stipend for incidentals, and work space at Evernote Headquarters. To be considered for the Evernote Accelerator, teams must participate in the full 2013 Devcup competition and follow the submission rules and deadlines outlined at dev.evernote.com. Evernote does not take a financial position in the companies or products that go through its developer programs, including Devcup and Evernote Accelerator.
The 2013 Devcup awards and Accelerator programs are preceded by several developer events and hackathons that take place in cities around the world including Tokyo, Singapore, Zurich, and Mexico City. In the first developer event of its kind for Evernote, Honda Silicon Valley Lab will come to Evernote HQ in Redwood City, Calif. from May 31 to June 2, 2013 to host a hackathon that focuses on the HSVL experimental vehicle that is specially designed to incorporate vehicle data with apps that enhance the in-vehicle mobility experience.
A full list of Devcup meet-ups and Developer Workshops can be found on the official Evernote Devcup site. More information on Evernote Accelerator can be found at http://dev.evernote.com/accelerator/.
