SAO PAULO, Nov. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Arup, a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm with a reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable designs, will be hosting the event "The Future of Urban Water" on November 11th and 12th in Sao Paulo. Organized together with Insper and Arq.Futuro, the conference will focus on water management in Sao Paulo. As Brazil grapples with scarcity of water, the seminar explores some of the key trends and issues shaping the future of water globally.
During the event, Arup's Foresight, Research + Innovation group will launch "Drivers of Change Water". The publication explores trends, analysis and forecasts on water management in the coming decades around the world, analyzing challenges and opportunities in socio-economic, environmental, technological and political terms. On the second day, November 12th, an exclusive workshop for invited experts will be held. The event will bring together representatives of governments and civil society, service providers, policy makers, academics, architects, engineers, investors, urban planners and opinion makers on the topic. Future events focused on Drivers of Change Water will be held globally in other megacities including San Francisco and Manila.
"The city of Sao Paulo faces a number of challenges related to urban water, such as water scarcity and the need to improve the integration of this feature as a design element and urban planning. But there are numerous opportunities to insert this reasoning in the future planning of the city, both through technology and through the implementation of specific public policies. Thus the metropolis will guarantee a more efficient and sustainable future for its waters", said Pablo Lazo.
Arup's Foresight, Innovation & Research team will compile the insights shared during the workshop to issue a final report to attendees that will analyze how possible strategies could influence public policy and water infrastructure in Sao Paulo.
