NEW YORK, Nov. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MWW (www.mww.com), one of the top five independent public relations firms, announced today that Evan Smith has joined the firm's New York office as senior vice president, corporate communications. Smith brings more than 20 years of experience providing strategic advisory services to clients from early stage development companies to Fortune 500 in the healthcare, real estate, technology, renewable energy and industrial markets. In his role, Smith will counsel MWW's corporate communications clients on corporate and financial communications and will report to Carreen Winters, executive vice president of corporate reputation at MWW.

Smith's experience encompasses all elements of corporate, financial and investor communications including market analysis and evaluation, corporate positioning, merger and acquisition activity, equity and debt financing and crisis and issues management. Prior to joining MWW, Smith headed investor relations for inVentiv Health and held senior positions at Chandler Chicco Companies and FTI Consulting, where he handled all phases of communications strategy and planning, corporate and financial communications, thought leadership and crisis communications. Smith also founded CPR Financial Communications, a healthcare and technology investor relations and corporate communication advisory firm that was acquired by Weber Shandwick.
Previously, Smith worked for institutional investment firms, Fred Alger Management and Gintel Equity Management, where he specialized in the healthcare sector. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA) and the CFA Institute. Smith earned his bachelor of arts from the State University of New York at Albany and M.B.A. from Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
