DFW AIRPORT, Texas, Oct. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Etihad Airways has announced it will increase the frequency of its service between Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport to daily flights, starting on February 2, 2017. Etihad Airways, which began the route in December of 2014 with three flights per week, will continue to serve the route with Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.
"We are excited by the news that Etihad Airways will soon increase their service from Dallas Fort Worth to Abu Dhabi to daily flights," said Sean Donohue, Chief Executive Officer of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. "This move shows the strength of the North Texas market for international travel, and further demonstrates that a great amount of global business flows through DFW. We thank Etihad for their continuing partnership and their service to our customers, our region and our airport."
"Since launching our Dallas Fort Worth service less than two years ago, the response from our guests travelling between Dallas Fort Worth and our home Abu Dhabi and beyond, has exceeded expectations. We are therefore delighted to further expand this service into a daily operation to meet strong market demand," said Kevin Knight, Etihad Aviation Group Chief Strategy and Planning Officer. "The increased frequency will provide greater convenience and more options to business and leisure travellers throughout the Texas region, and will also cater to the huge travel market from India and the subcontinent to and from our Dallas Fort Worth gateway and beyond."
The additional flights provide DFW customers more frequent access to over 100 destinations available through Etihad's Abu Dhabi hub, and conversely more connectivity options for travelers from the Middle East to over 200 domestic and international destinations available from DFW. The added flights also provide 96 metric tonnes of additional cargo capacity each week to facilitate the movement of international freight to and from Dallas.
Unique about the service from Abu Dhabi to DFW is that arriving DFW passengers can be pre-screened by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) before boarding their flight in Abu Dhabi. With the advance clearance from the onsite U.S. CBP facility in Abu Dhabi, arriving DFW passengers can proceed directly to their next connection or destination without having to process through the U.S. Customs and Immigration Hall at DFW.
