SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 14, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Force10 Networks, Inc., a global technology leader that data center, service provider and enterprise customers rely on when the network is their business, today announced John D'Ambrosia, chief Ethernet evangelist of its CTO Office, has been appointed to the Ethernet Alliance (EA) board of directors.

D'Ambrosia has been active in the development of Ethernet-related technology and the standards surrounding the protocol since 1999. Since co-founding the Ethernet Alliance in 2006, D'Ambrosia has held EA leadership positions, including director, secretary and business development manager, to help drive initiatives concerning the development, testing and support of solutions that rely on Ethernet technology.
"Ethernet technology holds an exciting position today as a widely accepted, de-facto protocol for networking yet it still offers tremendous promise for continued innovation in the future," said D'Ambrosia. Currently, D'Ambrosia is the acting chairman for the IEEE 802.3 100Gb/s Ethernet Electrical Backplane and Twinaxial Copper Cable Assemblies Study Group. He also served as the chair of the IEEE P802.3ba Task Force, which developed the standard for 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s Ethernet. D'Ambrosia also held the position of secretary for the IEEE 802.3ap Backplane Ethernet Task Force and participated in the development of XAUI for 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
