WASHINGTON, Aug. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) today announced it is expanding its presence in Canada to help drive innovation in the global market for payments technology services. The Canadian advocacy and policy initiatives are guided by a committee of ETA member companies, which includes: Moneris, First Data, Worldpay, Pivotal Payments, Paysafe, Square, and Blake, Cassels & Graydon.
"Across the globe, the payments technology industry enables safe and secure commerce through advancement in products and partnerships," stated Jason Oxman, CEO, ETA. "ETA's expanded efforts in Canada give our members a stronger voice for forward-thinking policy that advances innovation and global partnerships."
To strengthen these efforts, ETA has engaged Canada's premier public affairs firm, Tactix. Today's announcement builds on the association's existing programs focused on the future of fintech in Canada. As the voice of the payments industry, with over 500 member companies, ETA supports a modern payments system that promotes competition and financial inclusion.
"As Canada's largest payment processor, we are continuously working to ensure a secure, reliable and future-focused experience for businesses and consumers," said Angela Brown, President and CEO, Moneris. "Canada is an innovative and exciting place for payments. We are pleased that ETA is expanding here, and we look forward to collaborating with all our partners."
"Technology alone cannot meet the needs of every business. It takes a true partnership approach to achieve success," said Mark Pyke, President, Pivotal Payments. "To that end, ETA is a pioneer in the payments industry and we're excited to be working directly with them in Canada, continuing to innovate and positively influence the payments landscape."
"We are delighted to be partnering with ETA as they expand their efforts into Canada," said Joel Leonoff, President and CEO, Paysafe Group. "With a long-standing history as a leading payments provider in the country, and deep knowledge and expertise across our Montreal team, we look forward to collaborating with ETA to explore how we can continue to bring a safe and compliant method of payments to Canadian businesses and consumers alike."
"We look forward to working with ETA in Canada to support a modern payments system fostering financial inclusion," said Cathy Vigrass, Head of Canada, Square. "We want to ensure everyone can participate and thrive in the economy which is why we simplify the payment experience for Canadian businesses of all sizes."
