The program highlights employees who make strong contributions to promoting innovation, inclusion, and respect for others, both in the workplace and in the community.
Tim joined Esurance in 2005 and now is a senior database administrator who develops, maintains, and implements the policies and procedures necessary to ensure the security and integrity of the corporate database.
In addition to supporting a number of departments within the company, Tim also volunteers his time to the company's sponsorship activities, such as the this weekend's Esurance Tennis Classic in Mill Valley, CA, which benefits To Celebrate Life Breast Cancer Foundation and Youth Tennis Advantage.
As part of Esurance's volunteer initiatives, Tim has helped out at the San Francisco Food Bank, Real Options for City Kids, and the Museum of Children's Art Oakland (MOCHA), to name a few. He organized a bake sale to support Japan tsunami earthquake relief and recently visited Japan.
"My favorite thing about working at Esurance is the people," Tim said. "I am so fortunate to work with talented people who take pride in what they do and how they do it."
"Any cause, big or small, Tim is always the first to volunteer," said Arun Ganesan, vice president Internet operations at Esurance. "Having struggled as a child, he believes everyone deserves a chance to succeed, and this mirrors our philosophy here at Esurance."
Employees selected as the "Face of Esurance" appear on posters at all 15 of Esurance's office locations and on the company's intranet. These exemplary employees are acknowledged for both professional and personal achievements; their commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace; and their contributions to their local communities. As part of the award, Esurance also makes a contribution to a charity of the employee's choice.
Tim has chosen to support In Our Lifetime, a small organization dedicated to assisting and supporting individuals affected by breast cancer. Even though breast cancer has not touched anyone in his immediate family, he supports women's issues because of his admiration for his mother – a Chinese refugee who came to this country during the Vietnam War and raised nine children.
