SALT RIVER PIMA-MARICOPA INDIAN COMMUNITY, Ariz., Nov. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Further solidifying its position as Arizona's home for eSports, Talking Stick Resort will host its second tournament in its Showroom on Saturday, Nov. 18. Following the enormous success of its inaugural event in October, the video game competition will once again feature Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Smash Bros. Melee.
"The success of Talking Stick Resort's first eSports tournament, with more than 200 participants, is a true testament to its popularity in the Valley," said Ramon Martinez, director of public relations for Talking Stick Resort. "We were excited to welcome so many from the Arizona eSports community and look forward to doing it again in the coming weeks. We see nothing, but huge potential in our foray into eSports."
Talking Stick Resort's latest eSport's competition will feature both singles and doubles competitions with a prize pool of $5,000. Play will begin at 9 a.m. with matches scheduled throughout the day. Participants will vie for cash prizes playing Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Smash Bros. Melee, two fighter games played on Wii, using controllers to compete one on one through individual characters. The exciting event is free for public viewing and will this time feature a new component, Cosplay.
The resort again partnered with Ultimate Media Ventures (UMV), a renowned gaming and eSports innovation company, for its Nov. event. Their expertise in the creation of compelling events and the eSports community was essential in the resort's ability to offer an event that was not only exciting, but also authentic to the sport. The two entities will join together again for a third event in early 2018.
