Researchers Alex Matrosov and Eugene Rodionov from ESET's Moscow-based research team were chosen by the delegates of the AVAR conference in Hangzhou, China as the conference's best speakers. They presented a paper on Festi Botnet Analysis and Investigation.

In addition, Juraj Malcho, chief research officer at ESET, was chosen by WildList International as their Reporter of the Year. The WildList is a list of computer malware found in the wild and reported by a diverse group of over 55 qualified volunteers called reporters. It is made available free of charge by the organization.
