"Helping people enjoy technology safely has been one of ESET's primary missions," said Andrew Lee, CEO of ESET. "Together with our community partners, we expect this campaign to highlight important online security issues that parents and children face every day and direct them to key cyber safety resources available to everyone."
The CAP campaign includes an educational series of public service announcements which will air on NBC 7 San Diego, providing important tips for parents and children, as well as direct them to the educational website, SafetyNet. The campaign is timed to launch with National Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October and to run through the end of January 2014.
"NBC 7 San Diego is proud of our continued partnership with the San Diego Police Foundation and ESET to raise greater awareness around cyber safety, particularly cyber bullying," said Richard Kelley, President and General Manager of NBC 7 San Diego. "This multi-platform educational campaign will maximize outreach to parents and put a spotlight on this pervasive issue."
With many of today's parents having not been raised with the technology that is available to today's children, many households face a cybersecurity education gap.
"The San Diego Police Foundation is committed to contributing to a safer San Diego both on the street and online," said Darlene Kanzler, director, SafetyNet program. "The CAP campaign is an important tool for raising awareness of online safety issues and getting parents and children on the right track to making smart cyber choices."
