Ernst & Young LLP's Chell Smith Recognized for Leadership by Consulting Magazine
Named winner of Leadership Award in 5th Annual Achievement Awards: Women Leaders in Consulting
NEW YORK, Nov. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Ernst & Young LLP announced that Chell Smith, Americas Advisory Markets Leader, was recognized for her leadership as a recipient of Consulting magazine's 5th Annual Achievement Awards: Women Leaders in Consulting. She was presented with the Leadership award at a gala dinner and award ceremony hosted by the magazine on November 10, 2011.
"Ernst & Young is very proud of Chell and delighted that her abilities as a leader are recognized by the industry," said Bob Patton, Ernst & Young LLP's Americas Advisory Vice Chair. "Chell leads with vision, passion and continual innovation that have helped grow our business and inspire our people."
Smith was among over 450 nominees considered by Consulting magazine. She was nominated by Patton who was also honored by the publication for his leadership skills earlier this year.
Patton noted that Smith is helping to usher in a new era of growth and innovation for Ernst & Young LLP. Since re-joining Ernst & Young LLP in July 2008, her focus has been on raising the firm's capabilities and collaboration. Ernst & Young LLP's Advisory Services practice uses a sector-focused approach and draws upon the global Ernst & Young organization's worldwide service delivery capabilities to help companies turn risk into results, information into insight and innovation into action.
"It is humbling for me to be honored with this award and represent the many smart, capable, professional women with whom I work," said Smith. "I feel as though I am representing the great teams I've been part of and the great clients I've worked with. Consulting is definitely a team effort, where one individual can have little impact, but a high performing team can change the world. I am proud to be part of an organization that has created and values a culture of inclusiveness and diversity."
Prior to Ernst & Young LLP, Smith was with Capgemini for 15 years and began her career with the Chicago office of Arthur Young in 1989. After Capgemini acquired Ernst & Young LLP's consulting practice in 2000, Smith held a variety of global postings, including head of Technology Services and managing director of Global Operations. Her last role with Capgemini was as CEO of the Americas, the largest strategic business unit of the group, where she led a financial turnaround of the operation. Smith was one of Consulting magazine's Top 25 Consultants in 2004.
