NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J., Oct. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University and Spectrum Pharmacy Institute, a national pharmaceutical compounding education and training center, gathered with pharmacy students at Rutgers to celebrate October as American Pharmacists Month.
American Pharmacists Month is a national campaign sponsored by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) observed every October to celebrate and educate the public, legislators, and other health care professionals about the valuable contribution of pharmacists to their communities and to the healthcare continuum.
Celebrating an Official Commemoration
October 1st Mayor James Cahill officially declared October as American Pharmacists Month in the City of New Brunswick, New Jersey. The Proclamation included mention of the "Healthcare City" of New Brunswick being home to Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey, the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, and pharmaceutical manufacturers such as Spectrum Pharmacy Products.
At the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, the Mayor's Proclamation was shared and celebrated with Rutgers pharmacy students by the school's Dean Joseph Barone and Assistant Dean Donna Feudo on October 12. Also in attendance at the celebration were the APhA student chapter president, Karishma Patel, and executives from Spectrum Pharmacy Products and the Spectrum Pharmacy Institute.
Dean Barone stated, "We very much appreciate Mayor Cahill and the City of New Brunswick honoring the important role of pharmacists and recognizing American Pharmacists Month, the university and the School of Pharmacy with this Proclamation. Our students are the future of pharmacy and will play a crucial role in the health and well-being of society."
APhA student chapter president Karishma Patel said, "American Pharmacists Month helps raise awareness of the pharmacy profession and it further enables student pharmacists to advocate for the profession as the role of a pharmacist evolves within the core professional healthcare team."

Recatto, Ph.D., commented, "As a provider of continuing education for pharmacists through the Spectrum Pharmacy Institute, the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy reviews and jointly accredits our training courses.
