Eric Wiesen Joins Bullpen Capital as General Partner
An experienced VC and two-time founder, Wiesen joins Bullpen with a track record of successful investments including Braintree, Makerbot, TapCommerce and Venmo
MENLO PARK, Calif., Dec. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Bullpen Capital, the leader in post-seed round funding, announced today that Eric Wiesen has been named General Partner. An early-stage investor and two-time founder, Wiesen joins the team with a track record of successful investments including Braintree (acq: PYPL), Makerbot (acq: SSYS), TapCommerce (acq: TWTR), Singleplatform (acq: CTCT) and Venmo (acq: Braintree).
Previously a General Partner at RRE Ventures, Wiesen sourced or led over two dozen investments in the software, media technology, financial technology and consumer sectors. His investing philosophy and approach is informed by his experiences as a two-time founder, first in the 3D graphics hardware space and later in the enterprise software sector. Early his career, Wiesen practiced law in the corporate group at Fenwick & West, where he focused on venture capital funding, high-technology M&A and public-company securities work in Silicon Valley.
Wiesen is currently a board member at imgix and Yieldbot as well as an advisor to several companies. His current areas of focus include financial services and technology, consumer products and manufacturing, marketing technology and next-generation computer interfaces. Wiesen holds a BA from the University of California at Berkeley, a JD from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Columbia University.
"Eric is a rigorous investor, accomplished founder and great person," said Paul Martino, General Partner at Bullpen. "He is true partner and advocate to the entrepreneurs who are lucky enough to have him as an investor. We are excited to see him expand the post-seed model into new verticals."
"When I met the team at Bullpen, I knew had found my 'tribe,'" said Wiesen. "They have a contrarian approach to investing that produces unconventionally strong results. I'm proud to join a firm that fills an important gap in the venture capital ecosystem."
