LOS ANGELES, Oct. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ergobaby®, the award-winning designer of premium ergonomic baby carriers, celebrates 10 years at the forefront of the baby carrier industry. The brand's 10-year anniversary coincides with the introduction of new product categories and a limited-edition carrier designed by brand founder, Karin Frost, as a tribute to the professional communities that support babywearing.

Founded out of the instinct for wanting to keep her baby close, Karin Frost tried the products available on the market but found issues with each one. She collected her knowledge and began sewing the first Ergobaby carrier for herself in Hawaii in 2003. Her design ensured that her baby was ergonomically seated and that she, as a parent, was comfortable. This design gave her the freedom to enjoy her active Hawaiian lifestyle. People saw Karin enjoy hiking, gardening, and even shopping while still being close to her baby, and began requesting for Karin to make and sell her carrier to others. Karin started sewing some, but eventually couldn't keep up with the influx of orders and found a manufacturer who could take her design and make enough to keep up with demand.
Interest started to spread around the world, especially from the professional babywearing community and attachment parenting enthusiasts. From this, a global company was born with products available in 50 countries. The brand has since taken Karin's principles of baby ergonomics and parent comfort and launched new products that have evolved to meet the needs and lifestyles of parents around the globe. This year Ergobaby introduced the Ergobaby Swaddler, a swaddler blanket specifically designed to encourage healthy hip and arm positioning, and the Ergobaby Wrap, which features innovative 4D Stretch™ material that moves in every direction as parents move. Most recently, Ergobaby announced the new 360 Carrier, the brand's first ergonomic four-position carrier so that parents have the option of carrying their baby ergonomically forward facing, in addition to front inward, back, and hip.
As a tribute to the 10 years of success and to thank the community that supported Karin from the start and helped grow Ergobaby to the global business it is today, Karin Frost is designing a special limited-edition anniversary carrier that pays homage to the brand's roots. The carrier will be gifted to select members of the professional babywearing community and other key babywearing enthusiasts in 2014. This carrier will be a tribute to those who have made a commitment to supporting and educating parents on the benefits of babywearing for both child and parent.
