Equatorial Guinea Supports Education Efforts Throughout the African Continent

MALABO, Equatorial Guinea, Aug. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As part of Equatorial Guinea's (Republica de Guinea Ecuatorial) efforts to boost education in the country and support the African continent, the Vice Minister of Public Works and Infrastructures, Alejandro Micha Nsue, recently announced the West African nation will host the board of directors meeting for the African School of Architecture and Urban Planning in November.

The government of Equatorial Guinea has invested heavily in basic, secondary, and higher education in recent years. Two university campuses, modern hospitals, and a robust program of international exchanges have been particularly important in preparing professionals to take on the nation's challenges.

Equatorial Guinea joined the African School of Architecture and Urban Planning in 2003 as a member state to provide better education resources in this field to its citizens. The board of directors meeting agenda will review the 2012 budget, academic affairs study and analysis of the contribution of member countries. President Obiang has frequently pointed out the need for African nations to take greater responsibility for their own destinies.

President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo recently inaugurated a new school in Mongomo, which was fully funded by the government with a contribution of 150 million CFA francs.
