AUSTIN, Texas, March 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Epicor Software Corporation, a global provider of industry-specific enterprise software to promote business growth, today announced the Epicor® Prophet 21® and Eclipse Warehouse Management System (WMS) solutions are included in the December 2016 Vendor Landscape: Warehouse Management Systems report by Forrester Research.
Forrester Research's Warehouse Management System Vendor Landscape takes a look at vendors in the WMS market, the latest trends, and customer insights. Forrester found that many firms don't upgrade frequently enough to keep up with new business needs or product functionalities. This results in a long list of problems, including: the high cost of legacy solutions, with no upgrade path; confusion between multiple WMS solutions, with no consolidation path; and, the scramble to find and retain qualified support resources.
Despite all of the upgrade challenges, Forrester sees a clear case for upgrading WMS. Furthermore, Forrester surveyed buyers, vendors, and system integrators and identified several benefits of the new generation of WMS, including: connectivity between the WMS and other supply chain management systems, improved user interfaces to enhance user experience and ease labor challenges, reduced total cost of ownership with Cloud WMSes, and minimized customization because of powerful business rule engine.1
Epicor WMS Profile
Epicor is included in the report as a key vendor. Epicor has been providing WMS solutions for more than 20 years. It currently has two offerings in the form of the Epicor Prophet 21 Wireless Warehouse Management System and Epicor Eclipse RF Warehouse.
The core competency of the two Epicor Distribution Platforms is its vertical expertise and focus—important attributes to an industry constantly in motion like distribution. Epicor Eclipse RF Warehouse solution targets electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; and plumbing distributors and provides industry-specific functionality. Epicor Prophet 21 Wireless Warehouse Management System is designed for industrial supply, fastener and fitting, and fluid power distributors.
According to Trevor McDermott, IT manager at Kroll International, a Prophet 21 customer that specializes in wholesale of law enforcement, military tactical, public safety, homeland security, first-responder firearms, and shooting sports equipment says that Prophet 21 and its WMS has, "allowed us to streamline, maximize, and improve our warehouse processes. From better inventory tracking to going paperless, fulfilling orders more accurately, and generating performance metrics, the overall efficiency of our warehouse operations has skyrocketed with Prophet 21 and the Epicor Wireless Warehouse Management System—we have decreased returns by 10 percent and reduced paper consumption by 3,500 lbs."
Rich Chadwick, director of organizational improvement, United Electric Supply—an Epicor Eclipse customer using the Eclipse RF warehouse system states it's, "one of the best pieces of software I've ever worked with, and the RF guns in the warehouse are easy to use. We estimate we saved 30 percent in manpower there, plus we increased our accuracy. It is very important that we not ship the wrong product to the customer—reducing that to the absolute minimum greatly benefits our reputation as a distributor."
"The road to success in distribution is paved with challenges such as improving profitability, growing sales and onboarding new team members. Epicor lightens this load with WMS features in both Prophet 21 and Eclipse, so we are pleased to see both offerings mentioned in the Forrester Vendor Landscape for Warehouse Management Systems," said Doug Smith, director of product marketing for distribution, Epicor. "As the report notes, the core competency of our distribution platforms is our vertical expertise and focus, and it lists our deployment options for both on-premises and in the cloud that, in our opinion, sets Epicor apart from other vendors listed in the report. We think Epicor also has an advantage in terms of having a solution that is appropriately priced and easily deployed for one of the fastest growing areas—small and midsize businesses."
