California's fastest growing brokerage continues to promote the benefits of a strong work/life balance
SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- EPIC (Edgewood Partners Insurance Center), a retail property, casualty and employee benefits insurance brokerage was recently recognized by the Sacramento Business Journal as a "2013 Healthiest Employer."
EPIC is one of just 23 Sacramento area companies to be honored with this designation. Partnering with Healthiest Companies LLC, an Indianapolis-based research firm that focuses on wellness, the Sacramento Business Journal conducted company surveys and completed an extensive review in order to identify award winners and finalists.
Companies receiving this award were assessed in the following areas: culture and leadership commitment, strategic planning, communication and marketing, programming and intervention, and reporting and analysis.
"We believe whole-heartedly in a healthy work/life balance for our employees," said Mary Smith, director of human resources. "At EPIC, our commitment to helping our employees pursue a healthier lifestyle is a natural outcome of our 'people first' culture."
For four years, EPIC has delivered its employees extensive wellness programs. By providing offerings such as annual biometric screenings, the identification of major health risks, and medical benefits premium incentives, EPIC is effectively promoting a healthy atmosphere of wellness among its employees.
The luncheon to honor companies receiving the "2013 Healthiest Company" designation featured keynote speaker Debbie Meyer, a three-time Olympic champion swimmer. In her address she shared, "To keep the mind fit, we need to keep the body fit." She continued that helping employees keep healthy is "the most important thing you can do to keep their productivity up."
