EPA Recognizes Bentall Kennedy With 2016 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year - Sustained Excellence Award
SEATTLE, April 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized Bentall Kennedy with a 2016 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year - Sustained Excellence Award for its continued leadership in protecting our environment through superior energy efficiency achievements. Bentall Kennedy's accomplishments will be recognized in Washington, D.C. on April 13, 2016.
Bentall Kennedy will be honored for its long-term commitment to energy efficiency. In 2015, the company achieved a 4 percent year-over-year energy efficiency improvement for office buildings with an ENERGY STAR score. The average ENERGY STAR score is 77 across the office portfolio, placing the majority of its buildings in the top quartile for energy efficiency in North America.
"ENERGY STAR provides the framework for measuring the effectiveness of our energy efficiency strategies, which have helped our tenants and building owners reduce their energy bills by $55 million since 2009," said Amy Price, President and Chief Operating Officer, Bentall Kennedy, U.S. "Our partnership with ENERGY STAR continues to expand as we not only improve year-over-year energy performance in existing ENERGY STAR rated buildings, but also implement the program in more buildings across our portfolio."
In 2015, Bentall Kennedy achieved a 121 percent increase in the number of buildings benchmarked on ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, from 398 to 881 buildings. The benchmarking tool is utilized across all property types in Bentall Kennedy's portfolio, enhancing the firm's leadership position with cities, states and provinces that increasingly require commercial buildings to report on their energy use via ENERGY STAR.
