BRUSSELS and THE HAGUE, The Netherlands, January 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Euro sceptic Dutch and British politicians demonstrate collaboration in The Hague
During his first anti EU congress on Saturday, February 1st, Dutch EP-member Daniël van der Stoep will argue that The Netherlands shall withdraw themselves from the European Union as soon as possible. Besides Van der Stoep, also chairman of Article 50, British EP members of anti EU party UKIP and co-initiator Thierry Baudet of the Dutch Citizensforum-EU will address the congress.
Van der Stoep opposes a United States of Europe and wants citizens to decide about that in a binding referendum. He thinks the euro is a failure and The Netherlands should step out of the euro zone. The European Parliament - according to Van der Stoep an expensive applauding machine who's representing no-one - should be dissolved. To draw attention to his political views in the European Parliament, in 2012 he founded new political party Article 50, named after the article in the Treaty of Lisbon that allows states to withdraw themselves from the European Union.
In these points of view Van der Stoep is supported by the UK Independence Party, UK's third political party, which is fighting against an undemocratic, expensive and bureaucratic Europe. UKIP's EP member Roger Helmer and vice chairman of the EP fraction Paul Nuttall will address the congress.
Scientist and publicist Thierry Baudet will speak about the Dutch Citizensforum, that collected 63.000 signatures for a referendum about the EU recently.
After the elections in May Van der Stoep and his party want to join the Europe of Freedom & Democracy Group (EFD) in the European Parliament. This group favours an open and transparent co-operation among sovereign European States and rejects the bureaucratisation of Europe and the creation of a single centralised European super state.
That is another course compared to Van der Stoeps former party, the PVV, which wants to cooperate with extremely right-wing parties in Europe.
The congress will take place on February 1st, at the Royal Theatre in The Hague. After a
closed meeting, the doors will open at 2.30 PM. Sign up at: http://www.artikel50.nl/ledencongres.
