EOIR Raises over $76,000 at the 8th Annual TAPS Golf Outing at APG
FREDERICKSBURG, Va., Sept. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The 8th Annual TAPS Golf Outing, hosted by EOIR Technologies, Inc., was a sellout event that raised over $76,000 for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), bringing the 8-year total of funds raised up to $426,000.
TAPS is a 24/7 tragedy assistance resource for anyone who has suffered the loss of a military loved one. Since its start in 1994, TAPS has provided immediate and long-term emotional help, grief and trauma resources, and connections to community-based care, including mentoring programs and Good Grief camp, to more than 40,000 people grieving the death of a service member.
There were 27 total sponsors this year with 4 top sponsors: EOIR, Leidos, AASKI, and RDM Engineering. In addition, EOIR collected over 40 gift baskets, gift cards, and merchandise donations from local business for the raffle prizes, and General Dynamics Mission Systems sponsored professional golfer Christina Lecuyer who raised over $800 for the cause by challenging golfers at a hole. The winners were entered in a raffle for a signed Cal Ripken, Jr. baseball bat.
Ron Spratt, Senior Development Consultant at TAPS, called this the largest ongoing fundraiser for TAPS and presented Peter Cannito, EOIR's Chief Operating Officer, with an award, thanking him for EOIR's exceptional leadership and support.
"This event continues to sell out year after year, enabling TAPS to reach even more military families who've lost a loved one," said Cannito. "We had another fantastic turnout this year and continue to be extremely appreciative of the extraordinary level of support from the APG community for this worthy cause. We are honored to host the TAPS Golf Outing and make a tremendous difference in the lives of so many military families."
