EOIR Golf Fundraiser for TAPS Surpasses Goals

FREDERICKSBURG, Va., Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The 6^th Annual TAPS Golf Outing, hosted by EOIR Technologies, Inc., was a sellout event that raised $41,405 for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) and surpassed sponsorship goals. There were 18 total sponsors with three top sponsors: EOIR, Reunite, and RDM Engineering. Ron Spratt, Senior Development Consultant at TAPS, called this the most successful year yet and presented Peter Cannito, EOIR's Chief Operating Officer, with an award, thanking him for EOIR's support.

"We had a great team of sponsors, donors, and volunteers; without them, this level of success would not have been possible," said Cannito. "We're looking forward to seeing everyone out there again next year and to recruiting some new faces to support this worthwhile cause."

Previously sponsored by Viecore FSD (now EOIR's Mission Command directorate), the TAPS Golf Outing has raised more than $290,000 over the last 6 years in support of the families of fallen military heroes.

TAPS family member Erin Yaggy was present at the outing with her 6-year-old daughter, Elizabeth. Erin gave a light-hearted and inspiring speech regarding the loss of her late husband, Maj. David Laurence Yaggy, and explained how helpful TAPS has been to her family.

TAPS is a 24/7 tragedy assistance resource for anyone who has suffered the loss of a military loved one. Since its start in 1994, TAPS has provided immediate and long-term emotional help, grief and trauma resources, and connections to community-based care, including mentoring programs and good Grief camp, to more than 40,000 people grieving the death of a service member.
