Entrepreneur & Political Activist/Author Keith Shirey hires MAYO Communications for national publicity
Political Activist Shirey returns to MAYO as a client after more than decade
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MAYO Communications, an international award-winning full service public relations and marketing agency based in Los Angeles, has added Keith Shirey to its agency roster this year for national publicity.
MAYO worked with Shirey a decade ago on several controversial and high profile campaigns with victorious results thanks to media exposure. MAYO Communications will also help brand Shirey as a political expert and speaker.
"Shirey is a very interesting political activist we've worked with over the years," said Aida Mayo, MAYO Communications. "The 80-year-old Altadena, CA artist is very creative and passionate about his views he portrays in his artwork. We're delighted to have him back onboard."
Shirey, a retired philosophy and political science professor of four decades is the third most prolific, best loved satire and spoof news writers at TheSpoof.com. He's also one of the nation's most successful CEOs of political merchandising.
Shirey is no stranger to satire or controversy. In 2001, he drew national attention with EBay over censorship for three political pin back buttons he designed and put up for auctions. The buttons dealt with attacks on the World Trade Center. One button showed Osama bin Laden with a red slash across his face. The fourth button was a spoof on Enron involving a picture of a shredder. The censorship got the attention of the Wall Street Journal. "He won the 'David vs. Goliath' fight," said Mayo.
Before EBay, Shirey was arrested and jailed with celebrities, Episcopal priests, Jesuits for activities against U.S. policies in El Salvador and singing songs with Jackson Browne and Kris Kristofferson there. Shirey plans to continue crafting political illustrations with the upcoming elections and auction off new artwork online.
