LOS ANGELES, March 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- ENTITY Academy, a Los Angeles-based mentorship program for millennial women, today announced open applications for its 2018 summer curriculum. As the first women's academy created around modern mentorship, ENTITY Academy is a 6-week immersive experience that equips young women with critical tools they need to succeed in today's career climate, including lessons in leadership, resilience, strategic thinking, mock board meetings, sexual harassment training and more. ENTITY Academy serves as a compass for women ages 17-24 who are looking to explore their career options while learning valuable digital skills at the same time. In session from June 11—July 20, ENTITY Academy will accept up to 75 candidates for its 2018 program and will offer scholarships for up to 25 students.
The highly-curated program boasts an impressive lineup of unique experiences, including krav maga, flying lessons, a global sustainability roundtable, nutrition classes, boxing, contemporary ballet and more. It also exposes students to a diverse speaker series, featuring seasoned female CEOs, activists, entrepreneurs, top editors, PhDs, filmmakers and more.
Studies show people with mentors are more likely to get promoted in the workplace, but 63 percent of working women have never had a formal mentor. With this realization, Jennifer Schwab, expert on millennial women's empowerment, founded ENTITY Academy in 2016 to help bridge this gap.
"Let's face it, until recently, mentorship has primarily catered to men," said Schwab. "To truly transform our students into #WomenThatDo, we've discarded outdated, patriarchal notions of mentorship and replaced them with valuable skills for an ever-changing digital world. The modern mentorship we offer through ENTITY Academy isn't just about finding the career you like, but the life you love."
"ENTITY Academy is an exceptional opportunity for young women to get concentrated work experience as well as access to top mentors that will not only prepare them for their professional careers, but also adult life," said Susan Rockefeller, parent of ENTITY Academy alum and current student at Georgetown University, Annabel Schulz. "The mentorship program was instrumental in helping my daughter build self-confidence, personal presentation and professionalism."
"At ENTITY, I've learned what it means to be a Woman That Does," said Eliza Britt, ENTITY Academy alum and current student at Princeton University. "I have met, both through my peers and the incredible speakers, #WomenThatDo and women I aspire to become."
The 6-week program will take place at ENTITY's headquarters in Los Angeles' Boyle Heights neighborhood, which used to be home to The Knights of Pythias, an all-male secret society. Ironically, the walls that used to keep women out will now be a stronghold of female empowerment and women supporting women.
