EnterpriseDB and Data Intensity Partner to Meet Rising Market Demand for Postgres Database Migrations and Deployments
Enterprises to tap Data Intensity's deep application and data management expertise to seamlessly incorporate Postgres Plus Advanced Server into their infrastructures
BEDFORD, Mass., June 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- EnterpriseDB (EDB) and Data Intensity announced today that the companies have teamed up to meet market demand for Postgres database migrations and deployments. Data Intensity, a global provider of managed and cloud services for enterprise application and data management, will collaborate with EnterpriseDB to integrate its Postgres Plus Advanced Server® database system into organizations' overall data management infrastructures.
Today, more enterprises are standardizing on open-source database systems like Postgres to drive down operational costs and redirect budget for strategic initiatives. According to Gartner's report on The State of Open-Source RDBMSs, 2015,* "By 2018, more than 70% of new in-house applications will be developed on an OSDBMS, and 50% of existing commercial RDBMS instances will have been converted or will be in process." Gartner analysts believe that "as much as 80% of the in-house developed application portfolio may be candidates to migrate, and 50% of existing commercial RDBMS instances will be converted by 2018."
EDB's Postgres Plus Advanced Server database system is particularly attractive to enterprises seeking migration because of its database compatibility for Oracle applications as well as enterprise-class performance, security and manageability. Data Intensity is seeing a marked increase in customers looking to deploy Postgres for applications that don't have specific Oracle requirements. Data Intensity's hosting infrastructure and managed and cloud services ecosystem for Oracle and other enterprise applications gives the company unique operational insight into how organizations can successfully incorporate Postgres Plus as part of their enterprise data strategies.
"Next-generation applications require new investment in business intelligence and analytics and EDB's Postgres Plus Advanced Server enables companies to divert budget to these new ventures," said Gary Ludorf, vice president, alliances and channels at EnterpriseDB. "Data Intensity brings the in-depth knowledge of customers' data management needs and infrastructures vital to helping them realize Postgres' full potential and extracting greater value from their data through new projects."
"Open-source databases are becoming more broadly accepted as powerful and viable alternatives for processing customer and operational workloads—at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems," said Kirk Arnold, CEO of Data Intensity. "As a result, more and more enterprises are approaching us to help them with migrations and deployments to systems like Postgres Plus Advanced Server. Through this partnership, customers will gain the enterprise database performance they need as well as greater flexibility to re-allocate resources critical for more strategic initiatives."
